Jazz for Kids

On Sundays, we present the Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra (JSYO), our resident ensemble of talented children musicians directed by Conductor and Arranger David O'Rourke. In lieu of a cover charge, guest give a $5 donation that benefits the Jazz Standard Discovery Program, whose mission is to foster a connection between NYC schoolchildren and the jazz art form. Jazz for Kids offers student musicians the opportunity to play exciting new arrangements of big band classics, and families the opportunity to connect with the music in a fun environment.

As part of this program, Jazz Standard hosts children from NYC public schools to attend performances at the club and learn about jazz on weekdays during the school year. To find out how your school can participate, please email jazzdiscovery@gmail.com or call 646-747-7604.

Doors open at 1:00 PM, our lunch and kid's menus and full bar are available. Jazz Standard donates $1 from each kid's menu sold to Spoons Across America, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating children, teachers, and families about healthy eating habits.
